FarmVille Mystery Game (12/4/11): Silver and gold animals take the stage (( Details here ))

Is it just me, or does every mention of "Silver and Gold" bring about memories of the 1964 version of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer? Even if that's just me, I'm left humming that song in my head yet again, as this week's FarmVille Mystery Game has updated to include a set of silver and gold colored animals. This week's game costs 20 Farm Cash, but if you have any left-over darts from giveaways or redeeming Zynga Cards, of course you can use those to receive some animals for free.

As for the prizes this week, again, they're silver and gold in color, and while not all of them scream "Christmas" or even "Winter" when you look at them, they're still neat additions to your collection (assuming you collect animals, that is). Here's what's available to win:

Golden Bell Reindeer
Golden Dragon
Golden Pony
Golden Unicorn
Silver Bell Horse
Silver Fox

If you manage to win all six animals (remember, you could easily end up with duplicates, which would make this a much more expensive process), you'll walk away with a free Golden Phoenix as your seventh prize. This Phoenix actually isn't an "animal" in terms of the technical aspects of the game, as it's instead a decoration that can't be harvested. It will look neat on your farm, however.

As usual, this set of animals will only be available i the game for the next week, so make sure to throw your darts now to have the best chance of winning all seven items if that's your goal. Free darts have been released fairly frequently as of late, so we'll make sure to let you know when you next free chance at playing the Mystery Game comes around.

FarmVille: Latest survey hints at fifth farm in tropical Hawaii (( Details here ))

Here's something that will probably blow your mind: Winter Wonderland has just barely launched within FarmVille (and only then if you've actually paid for access), and yet we're already seeing rumblings of a potential fifth farm. How can this be possible? Well, there are no confirmed details thus far, but if you access the current survey that shows up underneath your FarmVille gameplay area (the window says "Please let us know how you feel about FarmVille!"), you'll be taken to a survey that asks for your opinions on said tropical farm.

We've seen surveys in the past, before the launch of the three expansion farms in the game - English Countryside, Lighthouse Cove and Winter Wonderland - so it only makes sense that we'd see another survey gauging users' thoughts on a potential fifth farm. To be specific, we're given a hypothetical situation: "FarmVille takes a trip to the tropics!" and are asked to choose between two names for this new farm: FarmVille Hawaiian Paradise or FarmVille Hawaii.

It's interesting that we see such a specific geographical location in the names of this farm, but it's likely that we might see something a big more generic in the final naming. What's really important in this survey, though, is that it continues on to give us a list of different animals that would fit inside an "Ocean Animal Pen" on this farm, and we're asked to rate each animal based on how much we like it. There are sharks, dolphins, whales, turtles, jelly fish, seahorses, seals and even starfish to choose from - almost 20 choices in all, which gives some pretty hefty weight to the idea that this farm probably isn't just an idea, but that it's likely already in development.

Another question gives us a look at potential limited edition item themes that would be released either in association with this farm, or just in celebration of its launch. We see things like Watersports, the Coral Reef and even Gilligan's Island as potential themes, along with a list of expected items that would come in those themes (like gnomes, a luau stage or even dinosaurs).

This is an absolutely huge deal, whether you actively farm or play on all four of the game's current farms or not. As we see the world continue to expand, we see greater potential for Mastery Signs (Tree, Crop and Animal), Sheep and Pig Breeding patterns, Gnomes and Horses and so on being available for players to add to their collections. Sure, it also allows Zynga to make more money by charging Farm Cash for access (or just charging for specific items), but isn't having more variety better than not having enough? I'm personally stoked to learn more about this tropical, fifth farm that's apparently coming to FarmVille, and we'll make sure to let you know as we learn more about its existence / launch.

FarmVille: Visit Discover's Farm for free Discover Yeti (( Details here ))

Yesterday, Discover and Zynga launched a series of themed, Discover Card goals in FarmVille, introducing us to a friendly orange Yeti that just wants help using his Discover Card to purchase Christmas presents for his friends. Via those goals - you can check out our full guide right here - you'll earn an "It Pays to Discover Tree," but what if you wanted the Yeti itself? Thankfully, you can now have one such Yeti by visiting the new Discover Card farm in your game.

The Discover Farm is now your very first "neighbor" on your friends list. By visiting it, you'll find a smaller version of a standard Winter Wonderland farm that's been buried in piles and piles of snow. With the click of a button, the Yeti drops down and magically makes the snow disappear, revealing the themed farm underneath. You'll receive the Discover Yeti in your Gift Box for your troubles, and are told to visit Discover's Facebook fan page to learn how you can unlock more rewards. Of course, we'll save you the trouble.

The only other prize listed on the Discover fan page is a Cashback Bonus Castle, but exactly how and when we'll be able to get our hands on this Castle remains to be seen. It can be assumed that the Castle will be made available after the Yeti, which will leave the game (as a prize anyway) on December 6. Either way, we'll keep an eye on things and will let you know as soon as you can claim a Cashback Bonus Castle for yourself.

  • FarmVille Golden Poinsettia Crop – 20 Farm Coins for seeds per plot

More on Gum Drops

During your active license you can grow and plant the crop as much as you would like. Additionally, Gum Drops will never wither! Typical of other Farm Cash crops, Gum Drops are cheap to plant (seeds still cost Farm Coins), have a nice Farm Coin return and decent XP considering the relatively short growing time until ready to harvest. You can purchase a permit to grow Gum Drops up until December 30, 3011 via the FarmVille Market.

FarmVille’s Santa Sleigh is Here! (( more details here ))

Today FarmVille’s Santa’s Sleigh was released!

So what’s the purpose of Santa’s Sleigh? Gifts! Each time you harvest your Santa’s Sleigh you will receive a gift. Santa’s Sleigh will work in conjunction with the FarmVille Holiday Tree which is still unreleased. The bigger your Santa’s Sleigh the more gifts that you will be able to harvest for your upcoming FarmVille Holiday Tree (soon to be released).

After the update is made available to you on your farm, you will receive a pop-up informing you that you can place your Santa’s Sleigh on your farm. If you first need to make room on your farm, then the frame of your Santa’s Sleigh will go to your Gift Box. If you’ve maximized crop space in Winter Wonderland, you may have to delete some of those plots to make enough room for Santa’s Sleigh.

Building Your Santa’s Sleigh

The Santa Sleigh is a constructible feature that will have a total of 7 building stages. With each new stage completed your Santa Sleigh will change physical appearance becoming more grand with each new stage. In order to build your Santa’s Sleigh you will need to collect materials from your friends. The materials can all be found on FarmVille’s Free Gifts Page.

Santa’s Sleigh Required Materials

  • GPS (1st 4 Levels)
  • Silver Bell (1st 4 Levels)
  • Holiday Lights (1st 4 Levels)
  • Holiday Cheer (Level 5 and up)
  • Milk N Cookies (Level 5 and up)
  • Reindeer Treats (Level 5 and up)

Each stage will require more of each of those supplies.

How to Get Supplies for Santa’s Sleigh

  2. Find free supplies on your Facebook News Feed
  3. Purchase supplies directly using Farm Cash
  4. Use the “Ask for More” button found when “Looking Inside” your Santa’s Sleigh

(( 75 Farm Cash)) FarmVille: Win a Christmas Plush and 75 Farm Cash from Zynga

Have you already entered our giveaway for a free FarmVille Christmas Ornament Plush, complete with 10 Farm Cash and a virtual version of that animal for your farm? There's still time to enter our contest for one of ten animals, but if you want to increase your chances of walking away with one of these adorable plushies, why not also enter a contest being held by Zynga itself on the game's official forums?

There, you'll have the opportunity to simply fill in the blank on a themed sentence for a chance to randomly be named the winner. To be specific, your entry needs to complete this sentence: "I want a FV plushy for the holidays because..." On December 10, entries will be closed, and 50 random players (that followed the rules, that is) will walk away with a free FarmVille Christmas Ornament Plush, the 10 Farm Cash and virtual animal that come with it, plus an additional 75 Farm Cash for being a winner of the contest. A pretty neat deal, right?

Unfortunately, you won't be able to choose which of the eight animals you'll receive from the big Z if you are chosen as a winner, but if you end up with a duplicate of an animal you've already purchased in the real world, why not try to trade it to a friend for something you don't have? My guess is there are plenty of eager farmers that would be more than willing to help you out, even if it's only to trade the virtual codes for those animals within your farm(s). Good luck!
